Fraser Health in British Columbia seeks a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department to deliver direct patient care, assess, plan, provide and evaluate nursing care, and collaborate with the interprofessional care team.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of applicable post graduate course work in emergency, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and collects information from sources using observation, communication, data review and physical assessment.
  • Collaborates with patients and families in developing the care plan and supports family participation in its development and modification.
  • Coordinates nursing care, sets priorities, delegates tasks, and makes referrals to the interprofessional care team.
  • Teaches patients and families about illness prevention and health maintenance to support care goals.
  • Documents assessments, observations and interventions according to Fraser Health procedures.
  • Participates in research, quality improvement and education activities.
