Job summary

Fraser Health Authority in Abbotsford is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to provide intake assessments, crisis intervention and direct psychiatric care in the Emergency Department or MH&SUS zone.

You will develop care plans, support patient flow and collaborate with ED staff and the community mental health team to ensure safe, person-centered care and smooth transitions to inpatient or community services.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration (BCCNM).
• One year recent related experience in mental health and substance use in acute/community settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform intake assessment, crisis intervention and direct patient care for psychiatric patients in ED/MH&SUS.
• Develop care plans and support patient flow and bed destination in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with ED staff, interprofessional team and community providers.
• Provide crisis counselling to patients and families per approved treatment plans.
• Document assessments, care plans, observations and referrals per Fraser Health procedures.
• Assist with discharge planning and transition to aftercare services.
