Job summary

The Ministry of Social Services in Estevan, Saskatchewan is seeking Emergency Duty Workers for term positions in the Estevan and area community. These workers will provide after-hours emergency services to families and report to a Child and Family Supervisor.

• Develop and maintain open, honest working relationships and encourage teamwork with clients, foster families, biological families, collateral agencies, and colleagues within the unit and community.
• Apply knowledge of multicultural beliefs and values, with particular emphasis on First Nations and Métis perspectives.
• Apply understanding of poverty, systemic barriers, and socio economic issues and their impact on individuals and families.
• Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure access to services and resources, remove barriers to independence, and promote overall well being.

The Opportunity:

The Ministry of Social Services, Child & Family Programs requires Emergency Duty Workers to fill Term positions in the community of Estevan and area. Emergency Workers will be responsible for providing after-hours emergency services to families. This role will report to a Child and Family Supervisor. This position is an on-call, rotational position, and hours are not guaranteed; standby pay is given while on rotation but not actively responding to calls. The hours will vary depending on the frequency of emergency callouts that the employee receives.
