Job summary

Electrans Technologies Ltd. in Oakville, ON seeks an embedded software engineer to design, implement, and maintain embedded applications for on-vehicle products and internal testing equipment.

You will work across hardware, manufacturing, and software domains in a fast-paced environment. The role involves developing for baremetal/RTOS/embedded Linux, collaborating with stakeholders, and contributing to tools, data engineering, and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, CS or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded development on microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M).
• Experience with embedded Linux userspace applications using Python or C++.
• Experience with hardware debugging tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
• Knowledge of CAN, I2C, SPI, UART and HTTP/WebSockets/MQTT.
• Familiarity with Linux and Bash; Git version control.
• Bonus: IoT telemetry stack, NXP S32K, ISO 26262/13849, CI/CD, SQL/InfluxDB, Grafana, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud infra, networking, cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, debug, and maintain baremetal, RTOS, and embedded Linux userspace applications for on-vehicle products and internal equipment.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support field operations and monitor system performance.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and specifications.
• Develop tools and test specifications to support PCB bring-up and QA activities.
• Take ownership of projects and drive them forward.
• Collaborate with hardware, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to exceed stakeholder expectations.
• Support non-embedded software activities such as web development, data engineering, and infrastructure management.
