Canonical, a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, is seeking an Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services. This role involves solution architecture, design, and delivery to customers.

Location

This is a remote role, managing a team in one of three regions: Americas, EMEA, or APAC. You must be located in one of these regions.

Role Responsibilities

1. Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers across Presales and Professional Services.
2. Assist customers with solution architecture, design, and problem-solving.
3. Work remotely within a specific major time zone.

5. Measure team health and implement disciplined engineering processes.
6. Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
7. Develop and promote engineering best practices.

Candidate Requirements

• Strong academic background in high school and university.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Extensive experience with embedded Linux (Yocto or similar).
• Deep Linux experience, preferably with Debian or Ubuntu.
• Proficiency in Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
• Experience managing a small team.
• Customer engagement experience.
• Fluent in professional English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
• Result-oriented with a drive to meet commitments.
• Ability to communicate technological benefits in business terms.
• Quick learner and humble in approach.

Preferred Traits

RTOS experience, additional language skills, and prior remote-first work experience are desirable.
