Job summary

District School Board Ontario North East is seeking a permanent full-time custodial supervisor at Smooth Rock Falls Public School. The role runs 7:00am to 3:00pm, 40 hours per week, starting as soon as possible.

You will organize and supervise custodial staff, maintain a safe, clean environment, and report to ensure compliance with safety rules and procedures. Salary is $29.02 per hour under the CUPE agreement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current, Board approved MHMIS certificate is required.
• Experience in custodial work is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety and maintenance documents.
• Ability to work cooperatively and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Physical capacity for medium to heavy labor.
• Ability to meet deadlines within time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise custodial staff to maintain high cleanliness levels.
• Develop and implement work schedules and priorities.
• Coordinate schedule changes for emergencies and absences.
• Prepare reports and assist with project planning.
• Train custodial staff on WHMIS and safety procedures.
• Record staff absences using Smartfind and manage replacements.
• Conduct inspections and maintain digital logs.
• Procure materials, supplies, and equipment as needed.

PositionSummary:

Organize and supervise custodial staffcleaning areas, perform routine cleaning and other related tasks in order tomaintain a safe, clean and healthy environment for students, staff andvisitors.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Must have current, Board approved, MHMIScertificate
• Experience in custodial work is preferred
• R eadand interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, procedure manuals, product directions and mixing ratios
• Workcooperatively and effectively with other staff and supervisors. Understandand carry out oral and written instructions.
• Use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency
• Perform medium to heavy physical labor
• Meet deadlines with time constraints

Supervisory duties such as:

• direct and supervise custodial staffto maintain a high level of cleanliness in the facility
• organize and implement workschedules
• set priorities and re-arrange staffschedules to accommodate emergencies
• report writing and planning projectwork
• training custodial staff to ensureunderstanding of WHMIS requirements and necessity of work safety
• inputting staff absences andreplacement employees using the Smartfind absence system
• performing inspections andmaintaining digital logs
• requisitioning of materials,supplies, and equipment

Compensation:

Salary in accordance with theprovisions in the current CUPE collective agreement Collective Agreement - $29.02 perhour
