Job summary

District School Board Ontario North East is seeking an Elementary Head Custodian for Smooth Rock Falls Public School. The role oversees custodial staff, ensures a safe, clean environment for students and staff, and manages daily operations from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Starting as soon as possible, the position is 1.0 FTE with a 40-hour workweek. Applicants should have a High School diploma, a current MHMIS certificate, and the ability to handle medium to heavy physical work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Computer skills including e-mail, data entry, online work orders.
• Must have current, Board approved, MHMIS certificate.
• Experience in custodial work is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety and procedure manuals.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise custodial staff to maintain cleanliness.
• Organize and implement work schedules.
• Adjust staff schedules for emergencies.
• Prepare reports and plan projects.
• Train staff on WHMIS and safety requirements.
• Record staff absences and replacements in Smartfind.
• Conduct inspections and maintain digital logs.
• Requisition materials, supplies, and equipment.
