Job summary

DataDrill Communications Inc. is seeking an Electronics Technician – RF Solutions to support RF path analysis across 2G/3G/4G systems, including cellular, radio, and microwave technologies.

You will program and test two-way radios and repeater systems, participate in product research, and provide on-call support to field staff. Occasional field visits may require working at heights; a clean driving record is preferred.

Qualifications

• Electronics Technician Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–5 years of work experience.

Responsibilities

• RF path analysis across two-way radio, cellular, and microwave techs.
• Programming/testing of two-way radios and repeater systems, including filter tuning.
• Research/testing of new products/services.
• Afterhours on-call to support DataDrill field staff.
• Provide client support and assist in sales of products/services.
• Troubleshoot and repair two-way radio and cell repeater equipment.
• Test distance to fault on coax cables.
• Occasional field visits; may involve working at heights to install/repair equipment.
• Build, test, and troubleshoot DataDrill proprietary equipment/kits.
• Maintain/clean rental equipment.
• Document products and processes for clients.
• Assist in department inventory and preventative maintenance.

DataDrill is currently seeking a Electronics Technician – RF Solutions

The Ideal Candidate will possess the following skills:

1. Strong understanding of Cellular repeater systems, including antenna propagation
2. Working knowledge of two-way radios and repeater systems (including IP based systems)
3. Basic working knowledge of microwave radio products
4. Basic working knowledge of Fiber Based Cellular DAS systems
5. Competent with the use of various testing equipment (Spectrum Analyzers, DVM, Oscilloscope)
6. Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot
7. Small circuit design and PCB layout experience an asset
8. Ability to perform work in a safe and efficient manner
9. Strong organizational skills
10. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
11. A clean driving record
12. Safety tickets (H2S, 1 st Aid, Fall arrest) an asset.

The Ideal Candidate will have the following Education and work experience:

1. Electronics Technician Diploma or equivalent education/experience is preferred
2. Work Experience 1 – 5 years

Job Description

An Electronics Technician – RF Solutions will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following tasks:

• RF Path analysis in the various two-way radio, cellular, and microwave technologies
• Programming/testing of two-way radios and repeater systems, including tuning of filters
• Research/testing of new product and service offerings
• Afterhours On call availability to provide product technical support to DataDrill Field Support Staff
• Provide Support to clients, and assist in the sale of products/services
• Trouble shooting and repairing of two-way radio and cell repeater equipment.
• Distance to fault testing of coax cables
• Occasional Field visits (which may include working at heights) to repair/install/remove equipment at client locations.
• Building/Testing/Troubleshooting of DataDrill proprietary equipment/kits.
• Maintenance/cleaning of rental equipment.
• Documentation for products, processes, client jobs.
• Assist in inventory management within the department including preventative maintenance
