Job summary

DataDrill Communications Inc. in Calgary seeks an Electronics Engineering Technologist – RF Solutions to join our field and product support team. You will analyze RF paths, program and test two-way radios and repeater systems, and contribute to new product offerings in a dynamic O&G/mining environment.

The ideal candidate holds an Electronics Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent, with 0–5 years of experience, and willing to travel to client sites as needed. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Electronics Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent education/experience preferred.
• 0–5 years work experience in electronics or RF field.

Responsibilities

• RF path analysis across two-way radio, cellular, and microwave tech.
• Program/test two-way radios and repeater systems, including filter tuning.
• Research/test new product and service offerings.
• On-call after hours to provide technical support to DataDrill Field Staff.
• Support clients and assist in selling products/services.
• Troubleshoot and repair two-way radio and cell repeater equipment.
• Perform distance-to-fault testing of coax cables.
• Occasional field visits to client locations (may involve heights) for repair/install.
• Build/test/troubleshoot DataDrill proprietary equipment/kits.
• Maintain/clean rental equipment and document products/processes.

DataDrill is currently seeking a Electronics Engineering Technologist – RF Solutions

The Ideal Candidate will possess the following skills:

• Strong understanding of Cellular repeater systems, including antenna propagation
• Working knowledge of two-way radios and repeater systems (including IP based systems)
• Basic working knowledge of microwave radio products
• Basic working knowledge of Fiber Based Cellular DAS systems
• Competent with the use of various testing equipment (Spectrum Analyzers, DVM, Oscilloscope)
• Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot
• Small circuit design and PCB layout experience an asset
• Ability to perform work in a safe and efficient manner
• Strong organizational skills
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• A clean driving record
• Safety tickets (H2S, 1 st Aid, Fall arrest) an asset.

• Electronics Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent education/experience is preferred
• Work Experience 0 – 5 years

Job Description:

An Electronics Engineering Technologist – RF Solutions will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following tasks:

• RF Path analysis in the various two-way radio, cellular, and microwave technologies
• Programming/testing of two-way radios and repeater systems, including tuning of filters
• Research/testing of new product and service offerings
• Afterhours On call availability to provide product technical support to DataDrill Field Support Staff
• Provide Support to clients, and assist in the sale of products/services
• Trouble shooting and repairing of two-way radio and cell repeater equipment.
• Distance to fault testing of coax cables
• Occasional Field visits (which may include working at heights) to repair/install/remove equipment at client locations.
• Building/Testing/Troubleshooting of DataDrill proprietary equipment/kits.
• Maintenance/cleaning of rental equipment.
• Documentation for products, processes, client jobs.
• Assist in inventory management within the department including preventative maintenance
