Job summary

Vancouver Airport Authority is seeking two permanent, full-time Electricians for the Facilities Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems across YVR buildings and assets.

This role works in a cross-functional team, requires safety focus and strong troubleshooting skills, and may involve 24-hour shift operations. Applications from internal and external candidates are welcome.

Qualifications

  • Three years of related experience in electrical maintenance.
  • BC Trade Qualification as Electrician required.
  • Strong safety focus and analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication.
  • Valid BC driver’s license (class 5 or better).

Responsibilities

  • Repairing and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment including generator sets.
  • Maintaining lighting systems and passenger loading bridges.
  • Working on switchgear, transformers, UPS, and PLC control systems.
  • Handling HVAC controls, field power distribution, and 69kv to 120V infrastructure.

Job description

Position Overview

We have two permanent, full time Electrician positions available in our Facilities Maintenance Department. This role works as a member of a cross functional team, and the successful candidate will perform all aspects of preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems within the Airport Authority buildings and assets.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Repairing and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment including
    • Generator sets
    • Lighting systems
    • Passenger loading bridges
    • Switchgear and transformers
    • UPSs
    • Automatic Microcomputer and PLC control systems
    • Airfield lighting
    • Multiple HMI Systems including Fire Alarm, General Alarm, etc
    • Frequency Drives, Soft Starts
    • Electrical infrastructure from 69kv to 120V
    • HVAC controls
    • Ground Fault protection system
Key Qualifications Include
  • Three years of recent related experience, supplemented by a BC Trade Qualification as an Electrician.
  • Demonstrated ability to make safety a top priority
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently, with little supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Proactive and customer focused
  • Valid BC driver’s license (class 5 or better)

Although not required, French language skills are an asset as we are committed to providing bilingual services to our visitors and passengers. Shift work is required as the Maintenance Department operates on a 24-hour basis.

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range :

Salary Range : $80,817 to $105,629 per annum, based on 40-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
