Canfor Green Energy in Grande Prairie, AB, is seeking a motivated Plant Operator, 4th/3rd Class Power Engineer, to join our team at the Green Energy Plant. The role focuses on safe, efficient operation of plant equipment and continuous improvement across shifts.

The ideal candidate holds a 4th or 3rd Class Power Engineer certification, has mechanical aptitude and experience with solid fuel firing, and demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Power Engineer certification (4th or 3rd Class) is required.
• Solid fuel firing experience is an asset.
• Maintenance experience is an asset.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
• Experience with heavy equipment operations is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of the plant and personnel.
• Operate plant equipment for optimal performance.
• Keep the Shift Engineer informed with accurate status updates.
• Perform regular plant tours and inspections.
• Identify and suggest improvements on a shift-to-shift basis.
• Balance shift priorities and monitor status throughout the shift.
• Complete rounds using check sheets and log water test results.
• Perform lockouts on required equipment.
• Support reliability and safety across business areas.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Plant Operator, 4th Class Power Engineer to join our team at the Grande Prairie, AB, Green Energy Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the plant equipment. As a Plant Operator, your responsibilities will include

• Ensuring the safety of the plant and personnel
• Operating plant equipment in the field for optimal performance
• Keeping the Shift Engineer informed with accurate plant status updates and promptly identifying issues
• Performing regular plant tours and inspections
• Identifying and suggesting improvements on a shift-to-shift basis
• Participating in balancing shift priorities
• Monitoring issues and status throughout the shift
• Completing rounds using established check sheets for inspection
• Conducting water tests each shift and entering results into the online database
• Performing lockouts on required equipment
• Demonstrating motivation to obtain a 3rd Class Power Engineering Ticket
• Supporting business areas and systems with a focus on reliability and safety

For this role, you come equipped with:

• 4th or 3rd Class Power Engineer certification
• Mechanical aptitude with solid fuel firing experience (an asset)
