The City of New Westminster is seeking an Electrical Utility Engineer to design and manage Electrical distribution and Fibre projects for new developments. You will coordinate design with consultants, oversee contractors, and develop modeling software for utility projects.
You will collaborate with field crews and City staff, lead design improvements, and may serve as Engineer of Record. A degree in Electrical Engineering and PEng/EIT eligibility are expected, with BC driver’s license required.

The City of New Westminster’s Electrical Department runs the oldest, continuously operating, Electrical Utility in British Columbia, generating electricity for streetlights as early as 1891. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Electrical Services, the Electric Utility Engineer will have a strong commitment to safety and will play an important role on the team in the design of projects specific to the City’s Electrical Utility and BridgeNet Dark Fibre Utility.
The City recognizes that strong engineering talent develops through progressive experience. Applicants who are registered as Engineers-in-Training (E.I.T.) and are working toward their Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation are encouraged to apply. Candidates who do not yet meet the full Professional Engineer qualifications may be considered for appointment at an appropriate E.I.T. level based on their education, experience, and demonstrated competencies. Compensation will be commensurate with the applicable E.I.T. classification and pay band.
