Kinectrics Inc. is seeking an Electrical Technologist (Bruce Power) in Tiverton, ON. The role supports low to medium voltage cable testing and diagnostics within the High Voltage & Safety Testing department, reporting to the MV Cables Service Line Lead.

The position emphasizes safety, accurate reporting, and customer-focused testing services. Ideal candidates have a college program in Electrical engineering or equivalent, knowledge of RTs/PD testing, and the ability to relocate to Bruce County.

Qualifications

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

The applicant will support low voltage and medium voltage cable testing, including switchgear diagnostic and assessment testing of equipment and materials in accordance with established technical work instructions and industry standards. Prepare progress reports and other standard reports such as routine test reports and equipment packing/shipping reports. Perform inventory and maintenance duties. Assist in product/service development, respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems generally of a routine nature. The assignment is within the High Voltage & Safety Testing (HVST) Department.

• Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures.
• Perform and document field and laboratory electrical tests, investigations and technical studies for customers in electrical generation, transmission and distribution sector. Support of other sectors such as chemical, civil, mechanical, metallurgical, computer science, material science, environmental science, biology, etc.
• Perform field and lab tests using predominantly standard techniques; provide support in laboratory or field environments by conducting experiments, conducting tests or servicing equipment; quality control.
• Assist with forensic inspection and testing of cables joints.
• Assist with field acceptance testing of safety equipment.
• Assist with and sometimes assemble and maintain equipment, processes, systems and development of test methods.
• Participate in the analysis of test results and data by use of standard software packages.
• Write reports of a predominantly routine nature.
• Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of the work performed.
• Perform clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
• Perform routine processes and duties such as shipping, receiving, inventory control, etc.
• Perform other duties as required.

What YOU NEED To Succeed

• Completion of a three-year college engineering/science program in Electrical or equivalent training and experience. A degree in Electrical Engineering Technology is a plus.
• Knowledge of PD testing and Resonant Test Sets (RTS).
• Candidate must be willing to relocate to Bruce County and work onsite
• Prior work experience at Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station including knowledge of station procedures and policies is preferred. Possession of valid station badging is considered an asset
• 8 years’ relevant experience or equivalent advanced education in related areas of transformer testing and repair. Requires knowledge of electrical theory and testing standards to understand the requirements of electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of MV/LV electrical testing and relevant test equipment an asset.
• Ability to utilize computer software programs for data management, etc.
• Critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities.
• Willing to travel by land and air to and from remote test sites.
• Be able to work in challenging conditions.
• Strong teamwork capabilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently on a day-to-day basis
• Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in resolving problems

This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
