Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies is seeking an Electrical Design Technologist to support the Building Design Team on Canadian projects. You will assist with electrical system calculations, develop drawings, and collaborate with Architects, Structural and Mechanical teams to produce contract documents from concept through construction.

Responsibilities include REVIT and AutoCAD drafting, energy modelling, cost estimates, and project administration.

Qualifications

  • Certificate from Electrical Engineering Technologist program.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Consulting office, with experience in design development, detailed design, design coordination, and construction admin services.
  • Professional Technologist – P.Tech designation is an asset.
  • Proficiency with AutoDESK REVIT & AutoCAD software is required.
  • Knowledge of National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), Electrical Code, and industry practice & regulations/applicable Codes having jurisdiction.
  • Knowledge of Energy Code requirements and building Energy Modelling software for submission.
  • Candidates will be required to work on multiple projects and collaborate with a team of Engineers, Architects, and Technologists.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong Mechanical background with focus on commercial building design and construction practices is preferred.
  • Good written & verbal communication skills, enthusiasm with strong work ethic and team involvement.
  • Flexibility to adjust with dynamic projects, driven to succeed in a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and investigate preliminary Electrical layout and system options during planning and schematic design to meet site and client requirements.
  • Analysis, Electrical load and lighting calculations, design and detailing of Electrical systems for all buildings design projects.
  • Collaborate with design disciplines to prepare contract drawings, specifications, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
  • Prepare REVIT & AutoCAD drawings for Electrical systems including plan layouts, schematics, specifications, equipment schedules and construction & technical details.
  • Preparation of cost estimates, tender contract documents and Engineering reports.
  • Complete Energy Model process and submissions for various buildings in jurisdictions across Canada.
  • Perform the Contract Administration duties on the projects including attending meetings, travel as required, submittal reviews, supplemental instructions, price requests, site inspection reports, meeting minutes, and all other aspects of the project for compliance with the Brandt Standards.
  • Review, evaluate, and improve upon Engineering designs, drafting, schematics and specifications, coordinate and follow up with project tasks.
  • Project cost monitoring and schedule control as requested.
  • Perform life-cycle analysis and develop green building procedures.
  • Support the Building Design Team as required, including internal collaboration, and assisting with other discipline Technologist tasks as required to ensure project success.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for providing support to the Building Design Team. Tasks include assisting with Electrical system calculations and design, internal collaboration for production of design documents (drawings and specifications), contract administration tasks and Engineering reports for building design projects across Canada.

What You Will Be Responsible For
