Qualifications

  • Understanding of control systems and Allen Bradley controllers.

Position Description


Title: Industrial Electrician


Position Purpose: The Electrical Technician is responsible for conducting preventative and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment and troubleshooting circuit problems while applying theory and related knowledge to install, rebuild or repair electrical equipment as needed.


Principle Accountabilities



  • Assist with service calls.

  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits.

  • Repair and/or replace electrical components.

  • Make recommendations for replacement or modification of electrical equipment.

  • Maintain and calibrate equipment.

  • Set up and perform circuit tests.

  • Read blueprints and wiring diagrams.

  • Soldering wires to electrical components.

  • Apply knowledge of current electrical code and CSA standards.

  • Interact with clients.

  • Follow safety rules and regulations.

  • Suggest replacement parts/components, place order for the items

  • Maintain instruments and other equipment.

  • Respond to internal and external queries.

  • Ensure that required tools, parts and supplies are available for each job performed.

  • Ensure that a high degree of standardization is met with all contracts.

  • Assist in the training and development of junior team-members.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Essential Skills and Experience



  • Completion of secondary school and college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

  • Red Seal Industrial Electrician with a minimum of 10 years experience preferred

  • Knowledge of RF, high voltage, analogue and digital components

  • A strong understanding of control systems, Allen Bradley controllers, variable speed drives, networks and communications

  • General troubleshooting and work planning skills
