Job Description

WSP is currently seeking an Electrical Team Lead to join our Buildings BC team in our Kelowna or Kamloops office.

This role will oversee establishing and growing a team of engineers and technicians in the interior of BC. The team will design and manage electrical systems for diverse building projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, light industrial, and transportation sectors. The successful candidate will lead project assignments, oversee work execution, and mentor junior staff.

A day in the life
  • Work with mechanical and electrical directors to establish and grow an electrical engineering team in BC interior
  • Lead and manage team effectiveness and resource allocation
  • Conduct team meetings and foster positive environment
  • Collaborate on business development in BC, focusing on interior BC
  • Design electrical systems for various building types across BC and Yukon
  • Manage project phases from proposal to construction, including power, lighting, security systems
  • Develop electrical designs, project drawings, and specifications with the design team
  • Communicate with clients, partners, authorities, and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with codes and standards
  • Adhere to budgets and timelines, maintain project tracking and billing
  • Review existing systems, prepare reports and feasibility studies
  • Perform load calculations, select systems and equipment
  • Coordinate drawings using CAD and BIM software
  • Participate in proposals and business development
  • Mentor less experienced staff
We’d love to hear from you if you have
  • Drive and passion to build and lead a team
  • 8+ years in electrical engineering consulting for buildings/infrastructure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deliver design submissions under tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD; AGI or ETAP is a plus
  • Experience creating tender packages and conducting site reviews
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical systems and construction
  • PE registration with EGBC is an asset
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, and NBC

Expected Salary: $105,800 to $145,400. Compensation based on education, experience, skills, and location.
