Aircraft Electrical Power Generation, Distribution & Lighting Systems

MANDATORY — CANDIDATES MUST MEET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING
  • Work authorization: Candidate must already have valid legal papers/status to work in Canada in hand.
  • Experience: Candidates who cannot speak directly to aircraft systems integration experience and applicable aviation standards do not meet the bar for this role, regardless of general electrical engineering strength.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in electrical systems integration or a directly related discipline.
  • Domain expertise: Hands‑on experience with aircraft electrical systems — power generation, power distribution, and/or lighting systems.
  • Standards knowledge: Working knowledge of RTCA/DO-160, SAE, and MIL-STD standards.
  • Regulatory knowledge: Familiarity with airworthiness requirements under TCCA, FAA, and EASA.
  • Collaboration: Proven experience working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams and external suppliers.
About the Role

Our client, a major aircraft manufacturer, is hiring an Electrical Engineer to join its Systems Integration team. This role owns the electrical side of the aircraft: power generation, power distribution, and lighting systems, from initial design through certification and into in‑service support. You'll work across the full product lifecycle, partnering with suppliers and cross‑functional engineering groups to make sure these systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements at every stage.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the electrical engineering scope on power generation, power distribution, and lighting systems — from design and integration through to in‑service support.
  • Drive certification, testing, and validation work, making sure electrical systems clear regulatory and airworthiness milestones on schedule.
  • Apply RTCA/DO-160, SAE, and MIL-STD standards, and keep designs aligned with TCCA, FAA, and EASA airworthiness requirements.
  • Work daily with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external suppliers to troubleshoot issues and keep integration on track.
  • Run trade studies and assess new technologies for integration into existing or future electrical systems.
  • Push continuous improvement on system performance, reliability, and safety.
Nice to Have
  • Specific hands‑on experience with aircraft lighting systems, not just power generation and distribution.
  • A track record of leading trade studies or introducing new technology into an existing aircraft platform.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating across disciplines in a regulated aerospace environment.
