Actalent is seeking an Electrical Engineer III for a contract-based role based in North Vancouver, BC. The engineer will contribute across all phases of complex electrical design projects, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements while optimizing cost and reliability.

The role emphasizes collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, detailed design packages, and material planning using MRP. A strong background in electrical systems, technical writing, and AutoCAD is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering or Naval Architecture discipline.
• 5+ years of post-secondary experience in engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Incorporated Engineer designation with a recognized, accredited institution.
• P.Eng. registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, or E.I.T. status with eligibility to apply for P.Eng. registration within one year, preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical and electronic systems and proven engineering skills.
• Technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, detailed technical specifications, procedures, and reports.
• Understanding and practical experience with AutoCAD software.
• Knowledge of MRP systems, purchasing processes, and management systems.
• Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work effectively across multi-disciplined project teams and contribute to integrated engineering solutions.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and to provide technical guidance on testing, evaluation, and improvement of engineering outcomes.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Critical thinking to analyze change requests and budgets.
• Commitment to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and design support for electrical and electronic systems by preparing detailed design and calculation packages.
• Develop electrical design documents to achieve customer and regulatory approvals.
• Perform trade studies to identify efficient solutions and meet material budgets.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce material costs.
• Develop material specifications and bills of material per material strategies.
• Apply technical knowledge to support design decisions and validate performance.
• Produce clear technical specifications, procedures, and reports for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Analyze change requests and design modifications for schedule/budget risks.
• Work independently, providing technical guidance on testing and improvements.
• Apply knowledge of MRP, purchasing, and management systems to support material planning.
• Utilize MS Office and document control systems to manage data and reporting.
