Job summary

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced electrical construction lead for site-based projects across Western Canada. You will oversee installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical systems, manage crews, and coordinate with clients to resolve field issues.

Applicants should have 5+ years on-site electrical experience, strong reading of drawings, and a Journeyperson Electrician certification. Aecon emphasizes safety, development and inclusive teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of on-site industrial construction experience, focused on electrical systems.
  • Supervisory or superintendent-level experience in electrical scopes.
  • Ability to read/interpret drawings, specs, schematics and electrical codes.
  • Valid Journeyperson Electrician certification or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in bid reviews to validate electrical constructability, labour productivity and material quantities.
  • Lead field execution of electrical scopes including installation, commissioning and maintenance.
  • Review electrical drawings, specs and codes to ensure accurate installation.
  • Oversee installation of conduit, cable trays, wiring, panels, instrumentation and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with codes and industry standards; supervise electricians and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with project teams to manage schedules, change impacts and risk mitigation.

What is the Opportunity?

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is a multi‑disciplined construction company offering superior civil, electrical and mechanical services including piping, insulation, scaffolding, and module fabrication. From fabrication and modularization to new builds, turnarounds and maintenance, ACSI leads the way in industrial construction and water infrastructure, providing clients with vertically integrated solutions and exceptional self‑perform work.

Please note: This is a site‑based position supporting projects across Western Canada.

What You’ll Do Here
  • Participate in bid reviews to validate electrical constructability, labour productivity, and material quantities.
  • Lead the field execution of electrical scopes including installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, circuit diagrams, and applicable codes to ensure accurate installation.
  • Oversee installation of conduit, cable tray systems, wiring, panels, instrumentation, and electrical equipment.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise electricians, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure efficient execution of work.
  • Monitor testing and commissioning activities including continuity testing, system verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and manage construction and look‑ahead schedules, aligning labour, material, and equipment needs.
  • Work closely with EHS teams to implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and Aecon’s zero‑injury culture.
  • Interface with clients to provide updates on progress and resolve field‑related issues.
  • Support change management processes including scope, schedule, and cost impacts.
  • Identify risks and collaborate with project teams to implement mitigation strategies.
  • Act as construction lead for electrical scopes, coordinating with Project Management, Engineering, Quality, and Project Controls.
  • Mentor and develop forepersons, journeypersons, and apprentices while fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
What You Bring to the Team
  • Minimum 5+ years of on‑site industrial construction experience, with a focus on electrical systems.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or superintendent‑level role within electrical scopes.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schematics, and electrical code requirements.
  • Valid Journeyperson Electrician certification or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability managing craft labour.
  • Solid understanding of industrial safety procedures including confined space, fall protection, and elevated work platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work fronts in complex project environments.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interface with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and fostering an inclusive work environment.
