Job description

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our Transportation - Aviation department, and could potentially be based in one of a number of WSP offices in Canada, preference being our Edmonton or Calgary office.

A sampling of the services provided by WSP's Aviation Group includes: project and construction management, air terminal and facilities planning, airfield master planning, airfield ground lighting, runway, taxiway and apron design, stormwater management and drainage design, de-icing facility design, and obstacle limitation surface assessment.

The successful applicant will be expected to work as part of design/project management teams on various airport infrastructure projects.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary conceptual, functional and detailed designs and teams; specifications, quantity and cost estimates;
  • Implement and oversee project quality control and quality assurance;
  • Liaison with clients and the project team;
  • Assist with resolution of issues, ensure timely analysis and recommendations for all issues encountered during the project;
  • Review and analyze project schedules for activities, milestones, and critical path;
  • Assist with preparing proposals, project cost estimates, and budgeting;
  • Prepare and review drawings and presentation materials;
  • Perform all other tasks that will help accomplish successful delivery of the project; and
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) from an accredited university;
  • Registered Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training;
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in Canada;
  • Aviation experience preferred;
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is an asset;
  • Strong MS Office skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Experience with schedule software is an asset;
  • Strategic, conceptual, analytical thinking and decision making skills;
  • Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadlines;
  • Ability to travel to project/client sites and conduct project work remotely;
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiastic team player;
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and research skills, and;
  • Be flexible and have the ability to work on multiple projects of varied complexity with minimal supervision.

Compensation:

Salary range (in British Columbia): $82,900 - $114,000

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
