AltaSteel is seeking an Electrical Planner to coordinate electrical maintenance for the Bar Mill. The role focuses on planning short- and long-term activities, minimizing downtime and meeting budgets.

You will develop detailed work packages, collaborate with technical specialists, and supervise contractors to ensure safe, reliable operations. Ideal candidates have journeyperson electrician certification or equivalent, 3+ years in electrical planning, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Electrical Planning.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience installing and maintaining electrical systems.
  • Experience working with a CMMS program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintenance planning experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule short-term and long-term maintenance activities for electrical work.
  • Prioritize work to support equipment reliability and accurate time estimates.
  • Develop detailed work packages and maintenance plans for electrical jobs.
  • Coordinate related work orders with planners and technical specialists.
  • Maintain inventory levels of spare parts and consumables.
  • Improve planning, scheduling, and data integrity processes.
  • Provide regular reports on planning activities.
  • Support emergencies with troubleshooting and planning assistance.
  • Monitor CMMS usage and feedback for improvement.
  • Coordinate, manage, and supervise contractors.
  • Develop maintenance and project budgets and estimates.
  • Ensure safety in planning and execution (JSAs).
  • Lead and participate in planning and scheduling meetings.

Job description

The Electrical Planner plays a key role in planning and coordinating electrical maintenance activities within the Bar Mill. This position is ideal for a motivated, mechanically inclined professional with strong electrical expertise who is looking to advance their career in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and schedule short-term and long-term maintenance activities, including routine downtime and major shutdowns, with a focus on minimizing breakdowns and meeting budget targets
  • Prioritize work effectively to support equipment reliability and ensure accurate time and resource estimates
  • Develop detailed work packages and maintenance plans for electrical jobs within the Bar Mill
  • Collaborate with other planners and technical specialists to coordinate all related work orders within assigned areas
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels of spare parts and consumables in coordination with stores
  • Continuously improve maintenance planning, scheduling, and data integrity processes
  • Provide regular reports on planning and scheduling activities
  • Support emergency situations with troubleshooting and planning assistance
  • Monitor CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) usage and provide feedback to leadership for continuous improvement
  • Coordinate, manage, and supervise contractors
  • Develop maintenance and project budgets and estimates
  • Ensure safety is integrated into all planning and execution processes, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
  • Lead and participate in planning and scheduling meetings
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Journeyperson Electrician Certification, Electrical Technologist Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 + years of experience in Electrical Planning
  • 3 + years of hands-on experience installing and maintaining electrical systems
  • Experience working with a CMMS program
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working as a maintenance planner is considered an asset
