Job Description

The Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent (Mining) oversees field construction activities, including installation of E-Houses, electrical equipment, raceway, cabling, grounding, lightning protection, lighting fixtures, heat tracing, and the interconnection of pre-assembled modules. Responsibilities also include mounting, wiring, calibration, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment, as well as managing temporary power and lighting for construction.

This role offers the opportunity to work on the Hatch and Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) project for the BHP Jansen Potash Mine in Saskatchewan, a significant and large-scale project with a budget of approximately US $5.3-5.7 billion. The project involves advanced technologies and innovative systems, representing a major investment in Canada. Join us in this full-time, permanent role and champion diversity and inclusion.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implement and ensure compliance with Jansen HSE processes, plans, and procedures, aligning with project goals.
  • Participate actively in the HSE Field Leadership program.
  • Supervise electrical and instrumentation construction operations, coordinate with contractors, and monitor performance against schedule and budget, ensuring HSE compliance through regular inspections.
  • Validate activity sequences, support execution analysis, and prioritize daily activities.
  • Identify field changes collaboratively, communicate directives clearly, and ensure all stakeholders understand and approve work before execution.
  • Coordinate with various project teams, support technical queries, and assist in quality and safety management.
  • Contribute to traffic management, temporary infrastructure planning, and constructability reviews.
  • Assist other superintendents as needed, manage time effectively, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Participate actively in risk management, review progress reports, forecasts, and contractor permits, and follow all project procedures and ethical standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with relevant experience in shaft or mining construction or operations.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in shaft or heavy industrial mining construction, preferably in Potash.
