Job summary

Hexion in Edmonton, AB is seeking a Maintenance Technician - Electrical/Instrumentation to ensure the reliability and upkeep of electrical controls and instrumentation across manufacturing processes. You will liaison between operations and maintenance for troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades.

The role requires an interprovincial journeyman ticket in Instrumentation or a cross-over electrical trade, strong MS Windows experience, and knowledge of drives, PLC/DCS systems, and safety standards.

Qualifications

Must possess an interprovincial journeyman Instrumentation (or electrical trade with considerable crossover exposure) certificate.
Computer literacy in MS Windows and computerized process systems is necessary.
Previous experience maintaining AC and DC Drives, PLC/DCS control systems, instrumentation and VFD’s are needed.
Possess good organizational skills.
Understand industrial safety requirements for local jurisdiction.
Familiar with safety, environmental, and Industrial Hygiene rules and regulations.
Know electrical and instrumentation codes and standards specifications, appropriate to local jurisdiction.
Know how to specify material and equipment needs.
Experience with maintenance information systems.
SAP experience is a benefit.

Responsibilities

Inspect, assemble/disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair all types electrical control and instrumentation equipment used on the Edmonton site.
Carry out routine maintenance tasks safely.
Troubleshoot motors, VFDs, PLCs, MCCs and related equipment.
Investigate repair and rebuild parts requirements.
Assist in obtaining quotations for parts and service.
Assist in ordering and obtaining services and parts for repairs and replacements.
Ensure routine PM and inspection tasks are executed as planned and suggest improvements.
Maintain compliance with ISO, SOX, ABSA, PF standards.
Participate in housekeeping audits and daily tours to identify improvements.
Contribute to quality and customer incident investigations, implementing preventive actions.
Participate in equipment failure root cause analysis and training.
Be involved in site PSM and PHA teams.
Input into capital and maintenance upgrade projects.
