Job Description
We currently have an opening for an Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in our Markham office. The role involves working with a dynamic team in a collaborative environment, preferably based out of Markham, with collaboration across our offices in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Kitchener.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical, instrumentation, and controls design for multi-disciplinary projects.
- Experience in water & wastewater industry is an asset.
- Design electrical power distribution systems (27.6kV, 14.8kV, 5kV, 600V): transformers, switchgear, panel boards, cabling systems.
- Perform power system studies (load flow, ground grid, short circuit, arc flash, coordination).
- Design Motor Control Centres (MCCs), motor control schematics, security, fire alarm, and lighting systems.
- Design SCADA systems (GE iFix), control systems (Emerson RX3i, Allen Bradley ControlLogix), including panels and communication networks.
- Prepare contract drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Prepare engineering reports and technical memos.
- Conduct site inspections, testing, and commissioning.
- Support construction activities, review shop drawings, and respond to RFIs.
- Assist in proposal development with technical input.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Adhere to policies within a COR registered environment.
- Follow safety rules and regulations.
- Participate in safety inspections.
- Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
- Comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Controls Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, and control system design.
- Eligibility for P.Eng certification.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Experience inspecting, commissioning, and testing electrical and control installations.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, Adobe Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Ontario.
