Job summary

Wood West & Associates Inc. seeks an Electrical Field Engineer to support complex institutional/commercial buildings projects. On-site work with multidisciplinary teams to install electrical systems in accordance with design, safety, and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–10+ years in electrical field services, construction, or related roles.
  • Experience on industrial or infrastructure projects is an asset.
  • Comfortable working in both office and field environments, including outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field services to ensure electrical systems are built per design, budget, and schedule.
  • Review drawings, specs, and shop drawings for compliance.
  • Conduct site inspections and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate RFIs, change orders, submittals, and documentation.
  • Support design coordination and resolve construction issues.
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and assist with reporting.
  • Participate in commissioning activities and system testing.

Job description

We are seeking an Electrical Field Engineer to support the delivery of complex institutional/commercial buildings projects. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams on-site, ensuring electrical systems are installed in accordance with design, safety, and quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of large-scale, high-impact projects while contributing to construction, coordination, and technical problem-solving.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform field services to ensure electrical systems are constructed according to design, budget, and schedule.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for compliance and constructability.
  • Conduct site inspections and field reviews; document observations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate RFIs, change orders, submittals, and construction documentation.
  • Work closely with contractors, consultants, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Support design coordination and resolve technical issues during construction.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and assist with reporting.
  • Participate in commissioning activities and system testing.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to quality assurance processes.
What You Bring
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems in industrial or building environments.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and construction practices.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA, BMS) is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in electrical field services, construction, or related roles.
