Job summary

Modern Niagara seeks an Electrical Estimator to join the Estimating team in Southwest Ontario (Hamilton). You will prepare accurate tender prices from drawings and specs, collaborate with project teams, and contribute to profitable bids and project success.

Key duties include takeoffs, bid document preparation, labor and material pricing, and supplier coordination. A post-secondary diploma and 2+ years in electrical estimating are preferred, with a strong eye for details.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma in mechanical or construction technology or related field.
• 2+ years electrical estimating experience.
• Experience producing detailed estimates and bid proposals.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs and enter into estimating software.
• Prepare, review, and submit bid documents to meet requirements.
• Assemble all elements of an estimate: labour, material, equipment, subcontractors.
• Prepare takeoffs from drawings that may be incomplete.
• Develop labour breakdowns for budgets and project control.
• Attend site visits, pre-bid and post-bid meetings as required.
• Engage with suppliers and sub-trades for competitive pricing.
• Review proposals to support decision-making with management.
