Job summary

Chemco, based in London, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support E&I projects across Canada. The role involves takeoffs, material costing, and coordination with vendors to prepare project proposals and execution plans.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of electrical field experience, formal or equivalent education, and proficiency with electrical codes and estimation software. London, Ontario office hours apply.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating hours and material costs for E&I work.

Responsibilities

• Report to lead estimators.
• Create project proposals reviewing scope, drawings, specs and standards.
• Perform electrical takeoffs of drawings and bills of material.
• Apply NECA Manual labour estimates to projects.
• Compile material lists for procurement.
• Create project execution plans and determine staffing/equipment.
• Assist in creating project schedules and coordinating with vendors.
• Estimate change orders and attend site visits.
• Track time on estimates and complete weekly timesheets.
• Participate in estimating staff training.

Electrical Estimator

Experience and Education

• 5+ years of electrical industrial field experience
• Relevant education (university degree, college diploma) or equivalent experience (10+ years as an industrial electrical journeyman or supervisor)
• Experience estimating hours and material costs for E&I work

Skills and Knowledge

• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code
• Ability to read construction drawings (single lines, cable schedules, layouts, wiring diagrams, etc.)
• Hands‑on experience installing electrical equipment, cables, raceways, lighting, heat trace, grounding, etc.

Preferred Skills

• Experience and knowledge in estimating Instrumentation scopes of work
• Proficient with Bluebeam Revu, Primavera P6, or Oracle Primavera Cloud
• Familiar with Excel VBA and Power Query
• Experience with material procurement
• Experience reviewing project contracts
• Experience with fibre optics, high voltage

Job Responsibilities

• Reports to lead estimators
• Create project proposals including:
  • Reviewing project scope of work, drawings, specs, standards, and other documents
  • Performing electrical takeoff of drawings and bills of material
  • Applying electrical labour using the NECA Manual
  • Compiling material lists for procurement
  • Create project execution plans
  • Assist in determining project staff and equipment
  • Assist in creating project schedules
  • Engage vendors and subcontractors
  • Coordinate proposal reviews with lead estimators
• Estimate change orders for current projects
• Attend site visits
• Track time spent on estimates and fill out weekly timesheets
• Participate in estimating staff training and improvement

Work Location

• London, Ontario office.
• 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30‑minute unpaid lunch
