Job description

Electrical Engineering Lead (BBBH10817) Oakville, Canada

Salary: CAD101000 - CAD110000 per year

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for leading and managing the design and detailed engineering processes for industrial electrical equipment and products. Key responsibilities include creating and developing electrical drawings, selecting and sizing electrical components, preparing bills of materials, and providing technical support to other departments. A thorough understanding of CSA and UL standards, as well as hazardous location classifications and requirements, is essential. Experience or knowledge in PLC programming is a strong asset. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring daily collaboration with fabrication and engineering teams.


Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess the following:


Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Professional Designation:
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial experience, with a focus on power systems, control systems, and automation.
Technical Proficiency:
  • Expertise in electrical design software, such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SEE Electrical, and/or SOLIDWORKS Electrical.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming is an advantage.
Standards and Regulations:
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including:
    • Canadian Electrical Code (CSA 22.1, CSA 22.2 No. 14, 25, 30).
    • NFPA 70 and NFPA 496.
    • UL standards (508, 508A, 698, 698A).
    • Applicable IEC standards for both general-purpose and hazardous areas (IEC 60079-0 & IEC 60079-1).
    • ATEX, Low Voltage, and EMC directives.
