Duration: 8 months, with possibility of extension

Openings: 1-2 positions

Salary Range: $3,650 - $4,525 CAD per month

We have developed a ground-breaking medical device for the diagnosis and treatment of the most common heart rhythm disorder, atrial fibrillation – which can cause stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related complications .

Kardium’s mission is to deliver the best treatment for atrial fibrillation. To achieve this, we have developed The Globe Pulsed Field System – we have a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.

We have now completed our pivotal clinical study and our focus is on regulatory approvals and commercial launch. This is an exciting and significant milestone in our journey to bring this ground-breaking technology to patients.

As a member of the electrical engineering team, you will get hands-on experience in the development and commercialization of complex and leading-edge medical devices. The electronics includes FPGAs, high-speed digital circuits, precision analog signals, RF power and high voltage pulse generation. Small-signal analog inputs are analyzed in real time while either RF or high-voltage pulsed power is delivered to the target heart tissue.

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Meaningful work you will be a part of

You will engage in activities that develop practical and transferable skills such as:

  • Digital logic design in VHDL/Verilog (e.g. synthesizable circuits for FPGAs)
  • Digital logic design using block diagrams in Vivado
  • Verifying the digital logic designs using testbenches
  • Verifying and troubleshoot the FPGA designs through board-level testing
  • Developing designs with an embedded soft-core processor (MicroBlaze, Zynq)
  • Understanding the TCL script used to synthesize with the Xilinx (AMD) tools
  • Data analysis (e.g. analysis of test data in MATLAB and documentation of results)
  • System-level testing and debugging of prototypes and preproduction units

  • Positive, proactive attitude and able to execute tasks with an appropriate level of independence
