Talent Acquisition Specialist | Driving Growth in Infrastructure & Capital Projects

- Reviewing existing conditions, drawings and specifications and obtaining additional data necessary for the completion of accurate drawings and specifications
- Visiting sites to determine and record existing conditions/deficiencies
- Researching additional information by liaising with stakeholders to ensure final designs are practical and meet requirements
- Reviewing shop drawings and material submissions for conformity to client drawings and specifications and for accuracy and completeness
- Applying knowledge and experience to review submittals by the client, external contractors, and other 3rd party designs
- Assisting engineers with the preparation of technical specifications
- Liaising with staff from other client groups and departments to ensure that projects meet all client requirements
- Assisting during studies as directed and preparing a variety of reports related to the work
- Must have or be able to acquire Subway/SRT Rule Book training for conducting site inspections at track level
- Ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines for the practice of professional engineering in the Province of licensure including but not limited to professional responsibility, Engineer’s duty to report, use of the Professional Engineer’s seal, due diligence, report writing, giving opinions, communications, confidential information, data gathering, and site investigations
- Perform day-to-day project-specific tasks and duties as planned and identified
- Forecast, direct, and execute appropriate means and methods to complete the task on a large-size, or high-complexity project from inception through to completion
- Outline the human and material resources required to complete a project successfully
- Manage the work and control the delivery of the project per plan
- Monitor staff performance to ensure excellence and adherence to specified deadlines
- Review and ensure adherence to the scope, schedule, and budget
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans
- Track, monitor, and report on performance against project requirements and address issues with corrective actions as appropriate
- Evaluate project effectiveness by consulting with clients and project staff
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations to various audiences including team and key stakeholders
- Manage and support scope change negotiations
- Clarify internal quality control checks and participate in quality issue resolution
- Define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project and program life cycle
- Complete any tasks assigned
Working Conditions
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Experience:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience with industrial and commercial electrical construction methodologies
- Extensive knowledge of transit operations, including familiarity with transit Offices, Subway Stations and Bus Garages, Car houses and Shops
- Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code and its applications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in area of specialty
Licenses OR Certifications:
- License as an Electrician (309A) in the Province of Ontario, Membership in Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), and/or License as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario would be an asset
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of prevailing Engineering means and methods in the area of specialty
- Effectively lead a large Engineering team
- Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment by ensuring effective teamwork, promotion of innovation, and overall excellence
- Demonstrated functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
- Proven capacity to anticipate, identify, and minimize risks
- Expert ability to detect, capitalize on, and be sensitive to others' strengths
- Tact to perceive and ameliorate conflict and tension
- Capability to supervise, delegate, and develop capacity
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
- Expert knowledge of applicable Engineering-related software
- Must maintain professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices
- Ability to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input from leadership
- Keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving abilities
- Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal)
- Expert ability to work collaboratively and independently in a structured, disciplined, technology-driven environment
