Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) operates four steelmaking coal mines in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, part of the Glencore Group. Start date January 2027, duration 8 or 12 months, offering hands‑on electrical maintenance and project experience.

In this co-op, you will support health and safety programs, assist with electrical design, troubleshooting, and site drawings while collaborating with engineering and operations teams across the mine maintenance department.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Responsibilities

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
• Generate job plans and support electrical projects on mobile mining equipment and improvement initiatives across the mine maintenance department.
• Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation failures and complete bad actor analysis.
• Utilize maintenance and troubleshooting skills with electrical systems and equipment (AC/DC drives, PLC-5, VFD, logic circuits).
• Assist with the design of small-scale projects including new equipment installations and sizing.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to organize, schedule, manage costs, analyze data, and monitor progress of projects.
• Support preventative maintenance plan documentation and updates, and electrical distribution system reliability engineering.
• Update site line drawings using AutoCAD.
• Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business.
