  • Perform calculations for electrical service load, lighting design, and distribution systems, including indoor and outdoor lighting design with fixture, lamp, and ballast selection, and lighting calculations to IES standards.
  • Layout lighting fixtures and fire alarm devices on plans, demonstrating fundamental knowledge of lighting concepts. Edit electrical specifications and prepare one-line diagrams with input from engineers.
  • Survey existing conditions as required for renovation projects.
  • Consult with suppliers independently to secure appropriate procedures for projects and coordinate electrical and telecom service supply requirements with utility companies.
  • Work directly with clients, under guidance as required, interpreting customer requirements, investigating design and field engineering difficulties, coordinating work schedules, and contacting approval agencies as directed by senior engineers.
  • Solve problems using a combination of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures, or methods developed from previous assignments, referring unusual problems to senior engineers or specialists.

  • Prepare progress reports, recommend changes in designs, estimate costs, and recommend payments for completed work.
  • Develop knowledge of related architectural and engineering disciplines, along with the relevant provincial Building Codes, Electrical Safety Codes and other standards.
  • Contact associates in other departments to discuss and advise on project requirements such as device locations, loads and circuitry.
  • Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members to support the overall success of the team and company objectives.
