Are you looking for exciting new opportunities? Peter Lucas Project Management invests in people, community, and cutting-edge technology to provide gold standard project delivery.

We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team to support projects in the Calgary area.

At Peter Lucas, we offer a variety of work, professional development, and learning opportunities that come from working on diverse projects in the mining, energy, and heavy industrial sectors. Our dynamic environment, filled with high-achieving professionals, enables our staff to take on incredible opportunities, gain mentorship from a diverse group of colleagues, and succeed in their careers.

The Electrical Engineer will manage a variety of small to large electrical construction projects and will be responsible for ensuring all projects are initiated and executed in a safe, accurate, timely manner and in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. You will be the electrical technical expert for Field Operations and Facilities, working out of the Calgary office, with occasional trips to the Fort McMurray site.

  • On projects where unique electrical designs are required, you will be responsible for completing the design in-house and are expected to follow our APEGA PPMP. On some larger projects where an engineering firm has been selected to do the electrical/civil/mechanical/piping work, you will direct the work of the firm in the design and equipment procurement for electrical facilities and coordinate site construction through onsite Field Construction Coordinators
  • Coordinate the construction/modification of electrical facilities. Use your experience to mark up existing drawings, procure equipment, organize electrical contractors and schedule the work. Redline the as-built drawing collection, track from the field construction electrical contractor and distribute to the drafting department, as well as distributing final corrected as-built drawings and tracking back to field locations
  • Specify high, medium and low voltage equipment for procurement, plus advise Field Operations and other Facilities team members on equipment selection as required
  • We also have a number of high-voltage power projects where if approved we will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of some transmission lines and substations that support our operations

We appreciate all applicants' interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Wages are negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Note: Peter Lucas Project Management is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering with significant oil & gas or mining industry exposure
  • Field experience working with equipment in mineral processing plants and large oil sand facilities is considered an asset
  • Professional Electrical Engineering registered with APEGA
  • Previous experience with EPC projects and design processes
  • Working knowledge of applicable Guidelines, Directives and Regulations about the Environment, Safety, the Canadian Electrical Code, and the Alberta Safety Codes Act
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Strong knowledge of Power Distribution equipment and motors
  • Heat Tracing
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • Demonstrate active listening and an ability to communicate technical concepts with non-technical stakeholders.
