Job description

Peter Lucas Project Management invests in people, community, and cutting-edge technology to provide gold standard project delivery. We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team.

At Peter Lucas, we offer a variety of work, professional development, and learning opportunities that come from working on diverse projects in the mining, energy, and heavy industrial sectors. Our dynamic environment, filled with high-achieving professionals, enables our staff to take on incredible opportunities, gain mentorship from a diverse group of colleagues, and succeed in their careers.

The Electrical Engineer will manage a variety of small to large electrical construction projects by being responsible for ensuring all projects are initiated and executed in a safe, accurate, timely manner and in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. You will be the electrical technical expert for Field Operations and Facilities, working out of the Calgary office.

Responsibilities:
  • On projects where unique electrical designs are required, you will be responsible for completing the design in-house and expected to follow our APEGA PPMP. On some larger projects where an engineering firm has been selected to do the electrical/civil/mechanical/piping work, you will direct the work of the firm in the design and equipment procurement for electrical facilities and coordinate site construction through onsite Field Construction Coordinators.
  • Coordinate the construction/modification of electrical facilities. Use your experience to mark up existing drawings, procure equipment, organize electrical contractors, and schedule the work. Redline the as-built drawing collection, track from the field construction electrical contractor, and distribute to the drafting department, as well as distributing final corrected as-built drawings and tracking back to field locations.
  • Specify high, medium, and low voltage equipment for procurement, plus advise Field Operations and other Facilities team members on equipment selection as required.
  • We also have a number of high-voltage power projects where, if approved, we will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction of some transmission lines and substations that support our operations.

We appreciate all applicants' interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Wages are negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Note: Peter Lucas Project Management is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in Oil & Gas.
  • Electrical Engineering with a Professional Engineer Designation with APEGA.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Guidelines, Directives, and Regulations about the Environment, Safety, the Canadian Electrical Code, and the Alberta Safety Codes Act.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Are you currently eligible to work in Canada? (For example, permanent resident, valid work permit, etc.).
Benefits:
  • Extended health, dental, and benefit plan.
  • Pension matching program.
  • Company incentives.
