Job Responsibilities
- Monitor technical scope, schedule, and implement design work while ensuring accuracy. Collaborate with other departments to achieve project targets.
- Proactively address obstacles that could impact cost, quality, and timeliness of project delivery.
- Review engineering inquiries and prepare timely responses for stakeholders.
- Support and guide project and operation teams as needed.
- Coordinate with suppliers, packagers, customers, and regulatory authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal (project, service) and external (customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies) stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality.
- Travel to sites for commissioning electrical systems.
Education & Experience
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC or APEGA. Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) with relevant experience considered.
- 3 to 5 years of formal training and experience in industrial design, with at least 2 years as a project engineer.
- Knowledge and experience in Power Generation and Power System design, focusing on diesel and natural gas generator sets.
- Experience with switchgears, transfer switches, MCCs, and powerhouse design including HVAC control.
- Understanding of Generator and Power System controls, protections, grounding/bonding, and equipment sizing.
- Familiarity with Power Systems technologies and applicable codes (CSA, CEC, IEEE, cUL, etc.).
- Experience drafting electrical schematics using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical.
- Experience programming and commissioning automation control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA) with platforms like Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, etc.
- Experience with generator control systems such as Woodward, DEIF, ComAp, etc.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially MS Excel and MS Project.
- Strong engineering skills with the ability to interact across disciplines.
- Ability to apply electrical engineering techniques to design, estimates, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Effective communicator at all levels, with good presentation and influencing skills.
- Ability to work well in diverse and challenging environments, demonstrating teamwork, technical acumen, and problem-solving skills.
