Job description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer Level 2 (EE L2) to support our expanding engineering initiatives. This key role requires a solid technical foundation in electrical design and automation, along with excellent project coordination skills. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, the EE L2 will serve as a technical reference for all electrical and control/automation aspects within multidisciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design
- Develop and validate deliverables such as P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams, I/O Lists, Loop Diagrams, Control Logic Schematics, and Power Distribution Plans.
- Design control system architecture (PLC/DCS).
- Create and detail control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, termination plans, and bill of materials (BOM).
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Process, Mechanical, and Instrumentation & Controls engineering.
- Coordinate with support functions (Document Control, Procurement, Finance) to meet project timelines.
- Provide regular updates to the Lead Engineer.
Vendor Management
- Assist in vendor selection and oversee technical deliverables.
- Ensure vendors meet project requirements, deadlines, and quality standards.
Compliance & Standards
- Maintain knowledge of CSA, NEC, IEC, and other relevant electrical codes.
Client Interface
- Serve as the technical point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, installation phases, and commissioning support.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in industrial electrical design and automation.
- Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Familiarity with PLC/DCS platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, etc.) is an asset.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proactive and autonomous in managing tasks while adhering to engineering leadership.
