Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Mississauga to support CANDU electrical systems from concept to detailed design. You'll coordinate with clients, suppliers and other design disciplines, and prepare drawings, calculations and procurement documents.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years in electrical engineering with nuclear exposure, MV/LV distribution experience, and PEO registration. Hybrid work and professional growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

  • Electrical engineering degree and PEO registration.
  • 5–7 years in electrical engineering and power systems; nuclear preferred.
  • 3 years of nuclear power plant design would be an asset.
  • Experience with MV/LV distribution, diagrams, load lists.
  • Knowledge of CSA 22.1, CEC, OESC is an asset.
  • Experience with transformers, MCCs, UPS, DGs and related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with clients, suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines.
  • Develop conceptual to detailed design for CANDU electrical systems.
  • Prepare technical documents: drawings, specs, BOM, change papers, and estimates.
  • Review interfacing discipline documentation for accuracy.
  • Prepare EQRs for procurement and bid support.
  • Mentor junior engineers and oversee schedules.
  • Support field construction and commissioning activities.

We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology. ## **Your role*** Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy procedures and QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.* Coordinate and interface with client(s), suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines to execute assigned engineering work.* Become involved in conceptual, preliminary and/or detailed design phases to support CANDU and other Nuclear electrical systems and modifications.* Prepare technical documents, such as engineering drawings (including GAs, DDs, EDs), change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, component specification sheets, commissioning specifications, etc.* Participate in review of interfacing discipline’s documentation.* Prepare requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement.* Interface and provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters.* Supervising, coordinating and reviewing the work of junior and assistant engineers/ designers; preparing estimates and monitoring schedules and assigns work to meet completion dates to team members.* Prepare scope of work and input to bid proposals.* Perform field walk-downs during different design phases and prepare Walkdown reports as required.* Assist field construction and execution activities, such as field changes, design revisions, commissioning, AFS, closeout, etc.* Complete the assigned scopes or tasks within given budget and schedule, and in good quality.* Provide prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical engineering related matters.## **About you*** Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).* Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.* 5 - 7 years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design preferably in the nuclear industry.* 3 years of design experience in Nuclear Power Plants would be an asset.* Experience with medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems, including preparation of Single Line diagrams, Elementary Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams and schedules, and calculation of power demand/ electrical load lists.* Experience with transformer sizing, cable sizing, circuit breaker sizing calculations.* Experience in modelling electrical power systems and use of analysis functions in ETAP, or other similar software program is an asset.* Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset.* Familiar with specifying and procurement support for electrical equipment such as Transformers, MCCs, low voltage distribution load centers, UPS systems including rectifiers and inverters and Diesel Generators (emergency and standby), power and control and instrumentation cables.* Adequate knowledge of established Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures and practices is preferable.* Adequate knowledge of applicable nuclear safety codes and regulations is an asset.* Knowledge of modification process of Nuclear Power Plant; ECC process or similar is an asset.* Shall have fundamental technical knowledge to resolve engineering issues or technical problems.* Good knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems would be an asset.* Good working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, such as of CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I and The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC). ## **Rewards & benefits** Explore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive – at every stage of your life and your career at AtkinsRéalis in Canada.Enjoy competitive compensation, employee recognition, and a brilliant range of flexible benefits you can tailor to your health, wellbeing, financial and lifestyle needs.Make the most of diverse opportunities for training and professional development to grow your skills and expertise.And take advantage of our hybrid working culture and generous time-off policies to balance a fulfilling career with your personal life.Be rewarded.
