Job summary

EXP Services Inc. in Markham, ON, a leader in building electrical consulting, seeks an Electrical Engineer (Buildings) with 4+ years of experience to join the MEP team. You will lead design activities, mentor staff, and ensure quality from concept to construction.

Candidates must be P.Eng licensed with PEO, with AutoCAD and REVIT MEP proficiency, and knowledge of Ontario Building Code and Electrical Safety Code. Salary ranges from $80k to $100k.

Qualifications

• PEng licensed with PEO.
• 4+ years of electrical consulting experience.
• Experience across Healthcare, Residential, Institutional, Commercial and Industrial sectors.
• Ability to lead and manage new construction, renovations and electrical upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Lead design activities and mentor design staff on all aspects of their work.
• Oversee development of design concepts and ensure proper application and execution.
• Review specifications, reports, code application, submittals, equipment selection and drawings.
• Apply risk management practices to all projects.
• Lead the design team to produce schematic design, design development, tender and construction documents.
• Engage in construction management tasks such as shop drawing review and site visits.
• Write, study and report on electrical system work.

In this role, you will be a part of the MEP team, of the Buildings sector, based in the Markham, ON office. The successful applicant will be joining a diverse engineering group in Central Canada poised for growth and challenging opportunities well into the future.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Reports to the Electrica Principal to work independently and with minimal supervision on projects from start to completion.
• Able to lead the design activities and mentor design staff on all aspects of their work.
• Responsible for meeting engineering quality standards on assigned projects.
• Oversees development of design concepts and ensures proper application and execution.
• Reviews designer’s work regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
• Responsible for applying risk management practices to all projects.
• Leads the design team to produce schematic design, design development, tender and construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget.
• Construction management including, but not limited to shop drawing review, progress drawing review, quotation review, prepare CCN/SI, conduct site visits, etc.
• Writes, studies and reports on electrical system work.

What your experience looks like

• The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in the Electrical consulting field.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensed with PEO is required.
• Experienced in Multi-sector - Healthcare, Residential, Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial sectors of electrical consulting.
• Capable to lead & manage new construction, renovation and electrical system upgrade projects.
• Knowledge in Ontario Building Code, Electrical Safety Code, all applicable CAN-ULCand CSA codes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products and electrical design software.
• Auto CAD experience required and REVIT MEP proficiency desired.
