Established in 1990, Electec Engineering Inc. is a design-oriented firm that prides themselves on delivering exceptional work to their clients, providing a full range of electrical and mechanical engineering services. Electec has completed thousands of projects throughout the Maritimes and across Canada.

Reporting to the ownership team and senior engineers, the Electrical Designer will assist with electrical design for building systems and play an integral role in project coordination. This role offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, collaborate with experienced professionals, and contribute to green building design initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in preparing electrical design drawings and specifications for low and medium voltage building systems, including power distribution, communications, fire alarm, lighting, security, and audio/visual systems.
  2. Support the review of electrical contractor specification submittals and ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code, National Fire Protection Association, National Energy Code, and National Building Code of Canada).
  3. Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and utility service providers to facilitate project execution and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  4. Assist in organizing and maintaining project records, drafting, and preparing final design documents under the supervision of senior engineers.
  5. Participate in design coordination meetings with the team and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
  6. Perform site visits and assist with reports during various stages of construction to ensure project specifications are met.
Skills and Qualifications:

As the successful candidate, you are an Electrical Engineering Technologist (CET) or an Engineer in Training (EIT) and have 1 to 3 years of experience working in electrical building design. You have a strong foundation in building codes, electrical systems, and design principles, with proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Revit would be an asset. You are a strong communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and contractors. You approach challenges with logical reasoning and problem-solving skills, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to take initiative in a fast-paced work environment. Join our dynamic team and experience innovative projects in an environment of respect and openness as you expand and develop your career.
