Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical Designer in Richmond Hill, Ontario to contribute to data center and TMT projects by designing electrical systems and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to meet code requirements and project schedules.

The role requires a electrical engineering degree, EIT, and 5+ years of NA experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power, and a commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Previous internship beneficial.
• Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power.
• Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical design and coordinate the design team on large data center/TMT projects through schematic design to contract documents.
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews for code compliance.
• Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule.
• Conduct work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review electrical documents for conflicts with all disciplines.
• Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment.
• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and incorporate changes into project documents.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Electrical Designer, we'll count on you to:

• Provide electrical design and coordinate electrical design team on large data center/technology/media/telecommunication (TMT) projects through the schematic design development and contract document phases
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
• Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule
• Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
• Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
• Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices
• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
• Provide construction contract administration as needed
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years experience in electrical design of Data Center and/or TMT projects in North America, (lighting/power/systems)
