Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical Designer in Richmond Hill, Canada. The role focuses on electrical design for data centers and TMT projects, coordinating cross-disciplinary teams through schematic design to contract documents.

You’ll engage with multiple disciplines, support code compliance, and contribute to HDR’s legacy of engineering excellence. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis and an EIT certification, plus

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Previous internship beneficial.
• Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power.
• Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical design and coordinate team on large data center, TMT projects through schematic to contract documents.
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews for code compliance.
• Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule.
• Conduct work sessions at project sites with PM and other disciplines.
• Review electrical documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
• Write/edit electrical specs and select equipment and systems.
• Coordinate with disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and changes.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• QA/QC on the work of others.

In the role of Electrical Designer, we'll count on you to:

• Provide electrical design and coordinate electrical design team on large data center/technology/media/telecommunication (TMT) projects through the schematic design development and contract document phases
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
• Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule
• Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
• Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
• Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices
• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
• Provide construction contract administration as needed
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years experience in electrical design of Data Center and/or TMT projects in North America, (lighting/power/systems)

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
