Job summary

GWAL, a division of Englobe, seeks an Electrical Engineering/Technology professional for Ottawa, with CAD experience in building services. You will work under a Senior Engineer, coordinating with clients and consultants, and preparing drawings using AutoCAD or Revit to meet project schedules and code compliance.

The role requires French-English bilingualism, PSPC clearance eligibility, and a practical understanding of codes and engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering/Technology or similar field.
  • At least 18 months of experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit in building services.
  • Professional bilingualism required with French & English.
  • Valid PSPC Security Clearance or the ability to attain it.
  • P.Eng. or CET designation is an asset.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong understanding of Acts, Codes and Engineering Practices.
  • Well-developed understanding of theories and principles.
  • Proficient skills in Tools, Methods, Techniques and Practices of the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with client & other consultants to determine project’s scope, under supervision of senior Engineer/Designer.
  • Documenting and communicating project’s scope to in-house design team members.
  • Coordinating electrical requirements with senior mechanical Engineer/Designer.
  • Coordinating with client, architect, interior designer and other consultants.
  • Respecting project schedule.
  • Ensuring plans and specifications conform to applicable codes, good engineering practice and project scope.
  • Participating in maintaining firm’s quality standard.
  • Preparing drawings using office CAD system.
  • Managing/coordinating multiple projects.
  • Performing load calculations.
  • Preparing detailed design layout.
  • Reviewing project documentation.
  • Participating in design review meetings.
  • Construction administration and site review.
  • Obtaining stamp and signature from signing engineer.
  • Assisting senior to monitor and control in-house costs and compare to project budget.

In your new role with GWAL, you will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Engineer and be accountable to:

What you’ll need to succeed
