Job summary

Innovative Automation, located in Barrie, Ontario, seeks an Electrical Design Lead to steer a team of designers delivering high‑quality automation solutions. You will shape design standards, support project execution, and grow talent while partnering with Engineering and Operations leadership.

You will lead daily prioritization, resource planning, and technical guidance, drive from concept to validation, ensuring safety and performance, and develop team members into capable leaders for

Qualifications

• Strong background in industrial automation and electrical design.
• Proficiency in EPLAN, AutoCAD and Edrawings.
• 5+ years’ experience in automation or automotive manufacturing.
• PEO designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and prioritize the Electrical Design team’s workload; guide technical direction.
• Oversee design execution from concept through validation to meet safety and quality standards.
• Mentor team members to build technical and leadership capacity.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Controls, and Operations to ensure project delivery.
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements, scope, schedule and quality.

In this role, you will lead a team of electrical designers responsible for delivering high-quality automation solutions. You’ll play a key part in shaping design standards, supporting project execution, and developing talent within the team—all while working closely with Engineering and Operations leadership.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and support the Electrical Design team through daily prioritization, resource planning, and technical guidance
• Drive design execution from concept through validation, ensuring safety, quality, and performance standards are met
• Mentor and develop team members, building both technical capability and leadership bench strength
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Controls, and Operations to ensure seamless project delivery
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements and project commitments on scope, schedule, and quality

What We’re Looking For

• Strong background in industrial automation and electrical design with Proficiency inEPLAN, AutoCAD, Edrawings
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technical teams
• Comfortable balancing hands-on problem solving with leadership responsibilities
• Passion for building robust, practical, buildable designs
• Minimum Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent Specialized Experience
• Minimum 5+ Years’ Experience within the Automation or Automotive Manufacturing Field
• Preference given to candidate holding PEO (Professional Engineers of Ontario) Designation
