Job summary

Sense Engineering in Ottawa is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer (Intermediate) to take greater ownership of electrical building-system projects from scope development through construction. You will design, coordinate, solve problems, and deliver while guiding junior staff and engaging with clients and decision-makers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or technologist certification required.
• 5–10 years of electrical building-system design and project delivery experience.
• Active or near-term registration with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and engineering fundamentals.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit and BIM experience valued.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a client-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis, design, modelling, and detailing for electrical building systems.
• Lead projects from initial scope through construction, including planning and client communication.
• Prepare design reports, system specifications, and opinions of probable cost.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines.
• Provide guidance and technical oversight to junior engineers and designers.
• Contribute to proposals, scope and fee development, and internal standards.
