ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com) is a trusted multi-service engineering and electronics manufacturing company. Aversan delivers leading-edge and reliable safety-critical electronics and software systems to the aerospace, defence, and space industries.
We are currently seeking a qualified Electrical Design Engineer. The successful candidate for this position will be a part of a highly motivated and technical work environment that feeds off the collective energy of a team-oriented workplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Contribute to complex projects relating to the design of products or tools. Applications are numerous, including spacecraft relative navigation sensors, processing platforms, vision systems, and LIDAR solutions.
  2. Perform circuit card level design and testing for both analog and digital circuitry.
  3. Contribute to the architecture of new camera and sensor platforms.
  4. Prepare and maintain design documentation.
  5. Conduct and document engineering analysis (Derating, Worst Case, Reliability, Radiation, EMI/EMC Analysis, FMECA, Power Budget).
  6. Conduct and document investigations of hardware anomalies and failures.
  7. Perform Acceptance Test Procedures on Engineering and Flight model HW.
  8. Mentor less experienced staff.
  9. Assist with project estimation.
  10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. B.Sc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. 15+ years related experience; minimum 8 years.
  3. Desirable: Space, aerospace, or military design experience. High reliability.
  4. Digital and analog design background. Microprocessors, memories, sensors, op-amps, filters, point of load power supplies.
  5. Familiarity with radiation analysis and EEE-INST-002.
  6. Familiarity with EMI/EMC compliance issues.
  7. Familiarity with FPGA design – implementation onto a PCB with internal RTL experience beneficial.
  8. Familiarity with power supply design.
  9. Familiarity with LTSpice simulation.
  10. Familiarity with requirements definition and/or verification and validation methodologies.
  11. Familiarity with component qualification concerns.
  12. Familiarity with Design For Manufacturing methods.
  13. Familiarity with Lidar or other laser-related design and test.
  14. Schematic capture (preferentially Orcad), board layout (preferentially Allegro), signal integrity analysis, power analysis.
  15. Capable of working under pressure to meet time-critical deadlines and ensure reliable designs.
  16. Strong lab debug skills.
  17. Strong documentation skills.
  18. Excellent communication skills (English); both verbal and written.
  19. Highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills, initiative, superior problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and willingness to learn and adapt.
