Job summary

Schneider Electric in Brossard, QC is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design custom electrical power distribution equipment and support projects through production and testing. You will work with project managers, manufacturing teams and other engineers to meet customer requirements and standards.

The role blends design work with problem solving across the plant, allowing you to work on diverse manufacturing projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control diagrams, or power distribution designs.
  • Experience with electrical CAD software; familiarity with SEE Electrical or SEE Electrical Expert (SEE XP) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and codes such as CSA, ANSI, IEEE, UL, or Hydro-Québec is considered an asset.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), eligible for membership, or interested in pursuing registration is considered an asset.
  • Bilingual in French and English, with the ability to collaborate with teams and partners across Canada and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Review project requirements and ensure designs comply with customer specifications, applicable standards, and internal engineering practices.
  • Design and maintain electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.
  • Develop detailed engineering solutions for custom power distribution equipment based on project requirements and technical specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), component lists, and other project deliverables.
  • Select and specify electrical components used in the manufacturing of switchboards, switchgear, and control equipment.
  • Coordinate design activities across multiple projects while meeting project milestones and production deadlines.
  • Work closely with project managers, manufacturing teams, and test technicians to support projects throughout production and testing.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing by addressing design-related questions, evaluating alternative components when required, and resolving technical issues that arise during assembly and testing.

Job description

For our Brossard, Qc facility, we are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering team.

In this role, you will design custom electrical power distribution equipment while supporting projects through production and testing. Working closely with project managers, manufacturing teams and other engineers, you will develop electrical designs that meet customer requirements and applicable standards.

From electrical schematics and component selection to troubleshooting and production support, you will be involved at different stages of a project and work closely with the teams responsible for building and testing the final product.

This role offers a combination of design work, technical problem solving and collaboration across the plant, making it a good fit for someone who enjoys working on a variety of projects in a manufacturing environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Experience using electrical CAD software; familiarity with SEE Electrical or SEE Electrical Expert (SEE XP) is considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with power distribution equipment, switchboards, switchgear, or control panels is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and codes such as CSA, ANSI, IEEE, UL, or Hydro-Québec is considered an asset.

The expected pay range is CAD 75,200 - CAD 112,800 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives.
