Job summary

Schneider Electric in Ottawa is seeking a Service Representative to perform startup, repair and preventive maintenance on customer equipment, in diverse environments. You will work with customers, partners and field teams to deliver high-quality service and clear field reports.

The role requires electrical knowledge, ability to read blueprints/schematics, and hands-on troubleshooting of power distribution equipment.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or trade/vocational certification in electrical discipline or related field.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience with power distribution and electrical safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform startup, repair, preventive maintenance and field modifications on equipment.
  • Collaborate with customers, electricians, sales partners and technical support to resolve issues.
  • Complete field service reports and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Travel to customer sites and provide excellent customer service.

This opportunity is a site-based position with frequent nonstandard hours. There is a 40-hour guarantee (+Overtime), with most work occurring at customer sites.

This Service Representative position will be within our Northern Ontario Services business, based in Ottawa.

As a Service Representative, a typical day for you might include:
  • Pre-site, startup, repair, preventive maintenance, or field modification of equipment
  • Problem solving with customers, electricians, sales partners, technical support, District Service teams
  • Completion of field service reports, expense reports, preventive maintenance, and startup data sheets
  • Working with your Manager to resolve complex escalated issues
  • Continuous learning and training on various products both in the field and in the classroom
  • Perform basic and complex testing following industry best practices and standards utilizing a wide array of test equipment and tools.
  • Consult with engineering and product support teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Provide start-up services and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Build strong customer relationships and deliver exceptional service reports.
On some days, you may even:
  • Travel throughout the region for local customer support or even countrywide travel. This includes overnight travel by vehicle/air.
  • Assistsenior technicians and support Project Management on larger system start-ups
  • Work alongside larger teams of SRs on higher complexity projects
  • Act on behalf of the District Service Manager to resolve operational issues as required
This may be the next step in your career journey if you have:
  • A strong drive for quality and customer satisfaction
  • An Associate’s degree, trade/vocational certification, Military training or similar experience in electrical-related disciplines.
  • The ability to read blueprints/schematics
  • Thorough understanding of principles of AC and DC power, various AC and DC supply circuit components
  • Experienced troubleshooting Power distribution and switchgear, seamless automatic transfer switches (ATS), power distribution units, electrical, electro-mechanical or electronics related equipment
  • 5+ years in Field Services or equivalent industry experience.
  • Must possess good safety practices and adhere to the company’s safety procedures/polices (lock out tag out, comply with all safety programs and complete safety related trainings on time.
  • Identify hazards present in the work area and report all safety matters, incidents, near misses, to management or safety representative.
  • CSA Z432 & OHSA knowledge is required
  • Safe driving and vehicle operations skills
  • Skilled at utilizing test and diagnostic equipment, with knowledge of NETA standards
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and operation manuals
  • The ability to write service reports, correspondence, procedures, effectively present information and respond to customer questions.
  • Work frequently requires strenuous physical tasks, including bending, stooping and lifting and carrying heavy items.
  • Work in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, and dust.
  • Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time, including working in small, confined spaces.

The expected pay range is CAD 91,200 - CAD 136,800 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives.
