Job summary

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation seeks a Design Draftsperson, Inspection – Electrical to contribute to planning, design, and inspection of electrical projects essential to our facilities.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Minimum of six (6) years of experience designing computer-assisted electrical drawings and inspecting electrical construction work.
• Experience and proficiency with CAD technology (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Vault, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Eligible for certification with l’Ordre des technologues professionnels du Québec or the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
• Strong knowledge of drawing techniques, design, inspection, and framework/structure construction.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and verify electrical technical drawings using CAD to ensure content quality and regulatory compliance.
• Produce detailed designs for structures, systems, and equipment, including calculations and material specs.
• Inspect and supervise electrical construction work to ensure compliance, safety, and site integrity.
• Serve as a liaison between internal/external stakeholders and contractors.

Salary: $CAN46.74 to $CAN49.68 (after 90 days work of probation)

Your Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and verify electrical technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) technology to ensure content quality and compliance with standards and regulations;
• Produce detailed designs for structures, systems, and equipment, including performing calculations, defining material specifications, and preparing technical specifications and project documentation;
• Inspect and supervise electrical construction work to ensure technical compliance, adherence to contracts and specifications, implementation of necessary adjustments, regulatory compliance, and the safety of sites and equipment;
• Serve as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders, as well as with contractors.

Your profile

• College diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or a related field;
• Minimum of six (6) years of experience in designing computer-assisted electrical drawings and inspecting electrical construction work;
• Experience and proficiency with CAD technology (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Vault, and AutoCAD Electrical);
• Eligible for certification with l’Ordre des technologues professionnels du Québec or the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT);
• Strong knowledge of drawing techniques, design, inspection, and framework/structure construction;
• Knowledge of applicable procedures, rules, regulations, standards, and safe work practices related to job duties;
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing;
• Valid driver’s license (Class G in Ontario or Class 5 in Quebec) and an insurable driving record;
• Eligible for Marine Transportation Security Clearance;
• Availability to undergo a medical examination and functional capacity evaluation;
• Ability to work at heights, in depths, near open water, and in confined spaces.
