Job summary

Eclipse Automation is seeking an Electrical Engineering Software Designer in Cambridge, ON. You will design PLC/PC-based software, integrate control systems with electrical and mechanical components, and contribute to machine installations worldwide.

The role requires 5+ years in automation, a post-secondary engineering degree, and hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics, and vision systems. Travel about 30% is expected; on-site presence is necessary.

Qualifications

5+ years in a custom automation (OEM) environment.
Post-secondary engineering degree in electrical, systems, or computer engineering.
Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills.
Experience with robotics, control systems, and machine operation.
Willingness to travel ~30% of the time.

Responsibilities

Design and develop PLC and PC-based software for customer and project requirements.
Debug and commission control systems at the facility and at customer sites.
Travel to customer and supplier sites for installation, commissioning, and training.
Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components like robots, sensors, vision systems, and lasers.
Work with Controls Engineering and other groups to improve integration methods.
Collaborate with customers and project teams to provide a complete automation system.
Provide thorough testing of machine functionality and accurate project documentation.
Provide customer training on project-specific topics.
