Eclipse Automation in Cambridge, ON, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Software Designer to design and implement PLC/PC-based control software, integrate with electrical and mechanical systems, and support installation worldwide. You will work with robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, and lasers, contributing to safe, functional automation solutions.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, travel up to 30%, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a custom automation/OEM environment.
• Post-secondary engineering degree in electrical, systems or computer engineering.
• Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with robotics, control systems, and machine operation.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Self-starter who works well in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC/PC-based software per project requirements using standard Eclipse methods.
• Debug and commission control systems at the facility and at customer sites.
• Travel to customer/supplier sites for installation, commissioning and training.
• Select, test, integrate hardware and software components (robots, motion controllers, vision, lasers).
• Collaborate with Controls Eng and other groups to improve integration methods.
• Provide customer with training on operation, programming principles, and structure.
• Document project results thoroughly and provide technical problem advice.
